Hoops fail in ambitious bid to bring Newcastle United striker to Loftus Road.
Newcastle striker Demba Ba has rejected an £80,000-a week offer from Premier League strugglers QPR.
Ba has long been linked with a move away from the North East due to a £7.5million get-out clause in his contract.

Demba Ba is a wanted man. As revealed by fanatix this morning, the 27-year-old is being tracked by Arsenal and this source now believes that QPR have seen an offer rejected by the former West Ham striker.
It’s a sign of the Hoops desperation to sign a striker that they have turned to the Newcastle United man, a player who has admirers at the Emirates Stadium and Stamford Bridge.
Although wildly ambitious, the bid illustrates that Harry Redknapp is being backed financially by owner Tony Fernandes, as the West London side battles to avoid the drop. It also begs the question of why Redknapp did not pursue Ba whilst at Tottenham, where he desperately needed a striker before the arrival of Emmanuel Adebayor.
Lack of goals has been a major issue for the Loftus Road oufit, with the likes of with Andrew Johnson and Bobby Zamora sidelined long-term, and Djibril Cisse and Jamie Mackie struggling for form. QPR have notched up just 15 goals in 17 Premier League matches this season.
Alan Pardew is likely to lose Demba Ba in January, with a number of clubs including Arsenal ready to make the £7.5m offer needed to trigger the striker’s release clause.
It seems more likely that the former West Ham man would be looking to join a club near the top end of the table if he is going to leave St James’ Park.
The 27 year old has scored 11 goals in 16 Premier League starts thus far this term and scored 16 during the last campaign.
