Julio Cesar would play in Italy again.
QPR and Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar is a summer transfer target for Arsenal but the former Inter Milan stopper has not ruled out a return to Serie A.
The 33-year-old spent seven years at the San Siro before a free transfer to west London and despite being strongly linked with the Gunners, the ‘keeper may head back to Italy.
“I played for Inter but this doesn’t preclude my return to Italy,” Cesar was quoted in the Express.
“My agent is working on my future but it’s better to talk about it after the Confederations Cup.”
The Hoops stopper is playing for hosts Brazil at the tournament, as they prepare for the 2014 World Cup in the country next year and the Samba Boys will face either Italy or Spain in the final.
Whilst it is unknown whether Cesar will chose the Emirates or Italy one thing is almost certain, the ‘keeper will not be plying his trade at Loftus Road come next season.
The Brazilian is one of a number of highly paid stars at QPR who will need to be offloaded this summer following the Rs relegation to the Championship.
Cesar played 26 matches during his debut season at the club, but was dropped towards the end of the campaign as it became increasingly apparent Harry Redknapp’s side would be relegated.
As an international regular and with wages that reflect that, Redknapp realised that the stopper would not be playing in the English second tier and wanted to give Rob Green a run in the side as a result.
