Gunners hope to bring pair of midfielders to Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are eyeing a double deal this January transfer window with AC Milan star Urby Emanuelson and Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue their top targets, according to the Daily Star.
The pair would give the Gunners some terrific options in the middle of the park, with Emanuelson’s versatility a particular asset.
Netherlands international Emanuelson has played as a central midfielder, right winger and even a centre forward, and having fallen out of AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri’s plans, he is likely to be available this January for a reasonable price.
Capoue meanwhile could be the enforcer in midfield that Arsenal have been missing for years.
A firm but fair tackler, he would add steel to a notoriously soft Arsenal core, and would finally give Arsene Wenger some cover for Mikel Arteta.
Up until Sunday’s match against Manchester City, Arteta had played every minute of every Premier League game, and it did not come as a surprise to many Gunners fans that he was injured.
Capoue and Emanuelson would make great signings for Arsenal – a blend of international pedigree and class, and if they were able to secure both players’ signatures, Arsene Wenger would have had a very successful January.
