Lyon deny north Londoners have been in contact over Gourcuff.
Olympic Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas has denied that Arsenal have been in contact with him about the possibility of signing midfield player Yoann Gourcuff.
Recent reports both sides of the Channel had suggested that the North Londoners were interested in bringing the Ligue 1 giant’s playmaker to the Emirates during the January transfer window.
The some-time France international has endured yet another injury-ravaged campaign with Lyon, and as yet has not even started a match for the club, although that had apparently not put Arsenal off as they attempted to bring in new players in the January transfer window in order to beef up their squad.
The 28-year-old, who signed for Lyons from Bordeaux for £20 million four years ago, was reportedly being offered to any takers for a bargain £3m, however, there was one stumbling block in that any interested party would still need to cover his enormous £4m-a-year salary.
But, those Aulas has subsequently poured cold water on those stories, saying: “Arsenal and Gourcuff? I don’t know about any offers. I have never spoken with Arsenal.”
