Arsene Wenger continues search for more firepower to bring to Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have been boosted by the news that AS Saint-Etienne striker target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would like a move to the Premier League.
The Gabon international forward revealed he is considering a number of offers from English clubs – of which one is thought to be the Gunners – and will make his decision in due course.
“Everything is clear, it is my last six months at ASSE. I want to discover another country,” said Aubameyang.
“I don’t know my future destination for the moment but, i have many offers from England.”
Aubameyang actually has a contract with Saint-Etienne until 2016, but has made his thoughts on his own future quite clear.
Whether ASSE want to keep a player whose head has been turned remains to be seen, and he could in fact move as early as this month if the offers he speaks of come to fruition early enough.
The Premier League team that signs him will get a quick striker, who is a fine finisher and good aerial threat.
He is also a creative player, particularly from the centre forward position – though he can also play on the left wing if required.
Eight goals in eighteen starts in Ligue 1 is a decent strike rate, particularly as five of those appearances have been from that left flank.
Aubameyang typically plays a lone striker role for Saint-Etienne, but could play in any of the positions in a 4-3-3 if asked.
A work permit would likely be granted, because Aubameyang has played the majority of Gabon’s international fixtures in the last few years, and his country’s 52nd place is comfortably within the top 70 in the FIFA rankings.
