Arsenal’s wing-forward Theo Walcott has welcomed reports that his manager is interested in bringing a special player to the club this January transfer window, according to the Express.
Wenger was previously quoted as saying he’d be interested in signing a “special” player this winter transfer window should one become available, and Walcott is pleased by the news.
Walcott, who has just won his place in the side back after missing most of the season with an injury, is delighted that the Gunners’ already excellent squad could be strengthened further.
“The boss has already said that he is looking for special players and we have got a lot of special players in that dressing room,” he said.
“If you want to win titles then you have got to go to the end and the thing about this team at the moment is that we never give up,” Walcott added.
Despite only making nine starts, Walcott has scored five and assisted four goals this term, and is of extra importance now Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are out with injuries.
The Gunners have most recently been linked to Fulham forward Dimitar Berbatov, but it’s unsure whether the ageing Bulgarian would come under the category of “special” any more.
Arsenal are also reportedly interested in Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa, who has scored 19 goals in La Liga already this term. He’s now regarded as one of the best in the business, although it’s very unlikely his side will want to sell him as they’re still very much involved in the title race.
