Arsenal’s record signing Mesut Ozil on shortlist to win 2013 Ballon d’Or, according to reports in Spain.
Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is on the 23 man shortlist for the 2013 FIFA Ballon d’Or, according to Spanish publication El Mundo Deportivo.
He joins usual suspects Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona and former Real Madrid colleague Cristiano Ronaldo, as well the likes of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben of UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich.
Mesut Ozil has had a brilliant start to his Arsenal career, winning every single one of his five matches for the Gunners, scoring one goal and providing four assists.
It is a formidable tally, and though unlikely to trouble Messi, Ronaldo and Ribery when the list is narrowed down to three players, Ozil could very well claim the prize in future if he continues to play this well.
