The Gunners were close to agreeing a deal for the young Cameroonian custodian last summer, but he opted to stay put in Catalonia instead.
However, Onana is yet to receive an offer despite putting in a number of impressive performances for the youth side, and now looks set to link up with Arsene Wenger once terms are struck in January.
Arsenal already have Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina on their books, but are still keeping one eye on the future with Onana being tipped to be a top player in the next few years.
The youngster has been followed by chief Gunners scout Francis Cagigao since the start of the year, and he has urged Arsene Wenger to do whatever is necessary to sign the 18-year-old.
