Arsenal resigned to losing Sagna after recent poor form, but future star could be on way to Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are thought to have reignited their interest in Burnley right back Kieran Trippier, with Bacary Sagna’s form increasingly uncertain.
The Gunners’ star has been a stalwart in recent seasons – being named twice in the Barclays Premier League team of the year, but his performances in recent games are a cause for concern for the fans – and he could move to Inter Milan at the end of the current campaign.
Sagna is out of contract at the end of the 2013-14 season, and Arsene Wenger may be tempted to sell the France international this summer given the encouraging progress of Carl Jenkinson, who recently signed a new contract to stay at Emirates Stadium.
Burnley star Kieran Trippier could provide similar competition for Jenkinson if Sagna goes, and Arsenal scouts have been spotted at Burnley games as far back as November.
The 22 year-old has played international football for the England U21 side, and appears ready to step up to the next level at this stage of his career and play Premier League football.
A hugely impressive attacking threat, Arsenal have been impressed by Trippier going forward but are aware that he could be more solid at the back.
Trippier might be unleashed in games where Arsenal anticipate less threat to their own defence, whilst Jenkinson could be deployed when a more disciplined presence is required.
