Chilean star’s visa problems mean he’ll miss out on trip to Austria.
Arsene Wenger has been handed an early blow with the news that new £32 million signing Alexis Sanchez will miss the club’s pre-season tour of Austria due to issues with his visa, the Daily Mirror reports.
The Gunners went down 1-0 to MLS side New York Red Bulls on Saturday, and will arrive in Austria on Monday ahead of a training camp as Wenger looks to prepare his side for the Premier League kick off in just over two weeks time.
But record signing Alexis Sanchez will not be able to join his new team-mates today he has to go to Paris to get a visa.
Wenger wanted to include the Chilean World Cup ace in the side for a week of intensive training and bonding with his new teammates.
The Gunners went to the United States with a threadbare squad, but can now welcome back their French and German contingent, though Sanchez will have top remain behind.
“I don’t think Sanchez will come to Austria because he has to go to Paris to get a visa, so he will only go to London Colney on Tuesday and we come back on Thursday, so he will work in London,” Wenger said.
