Sebastian Perez returns to Colombia, despite featuring for Gunners on Saturday.
Arsenal trialist Sebastian Perez has returned to Colombia after his application for a work permit was denied.
Despite reports the young enforcer has a Spanish passport, Perez has been forced to fly home because he has not played in 75% of Colombia’s international matches.
The Gunners had been set to land the 20-year-old, who played for the club in the friendly win over Man City on Saturday, but Atletic Nacional’s manager Victor Marulanda confirmed the midfielder’s return.
“We knew that and we were waiting for an answer but he could not [get a permit] and the player will continue to work with us.
“The possibility of Arsenal was ruled out.
“We knew it was an important opportunity for him. There are two clubs interested. Admittedly it was the Arsenal but this is simple, if there is another real possibility the player is going.”
