The Welshman, who is quoted by the Daily Mirror, is yet to hit top form during the current campaign, after impressing with 18 goals last term. After struggling with a hamstring injury, he admitted that Saturday’s game against Man United was the first time he’d felt right.
“I think I had a hamstring injury and it takes a few games to get back to your best,” he revealed. “In the last game was the first time in a long time that I felt sharp again and felt like I was physically there.
“Hopefully I can continue that and have a very successful season. It did take me a few games to get back. Against Manchester United was the first time that I felt physically sharp and where I could recover a lot better after my runs forward.
“But I’m not worried at all. I still believe in my qualities, and I’m confident that I can show that again this year. There will be plenty more opportunities.
“Maybe I was trying too hard (to score) but I’ve put that to the back of my mind and am focusing on other things. That will come naturally again. I’m still going to make my runs into the box. That’s my game.
“I also can get back and defend, and that’s what I mean by that’s the best I’ve felt [in a while at the weekend]. When I got forward, I could get back in time as well.”
