The Gunners are interested in bringing in Dzeko.
It’s been a good start to the season for Arsenal but concerns are growing about the over reliance on Olivier Giroud and Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko is being lined up, according to the Mirror.
While Giroud has been in good form, any injury to the Frenchman would leave manager Arsene Wenger with only Nicklas Bendtner and Yaya Sanogo as available out-and-out strikers.
Therefore recruitment in attack is a must for the club in the January transfer window and several names have been touted about as moving to the Emirates Stadium.
Dzeko is the latest of which, with the Bosnian not enjoying much opportunity at Eastlands this term due to the emerging partnership of Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo.
The 27-year-old has made 12 appearances in all competitions and scored six goals so far in 2013/14, as well as providing three assists.
Since coming to the Premier League in January 2011 from Wolfsburg, Dzeko has had sporadic spells in and out of the starting XI.
That being said the forward has generally looked good in front of goal, with the Bosnia international having scored 46 times and provided 22 assists since making the move to the Etihad Stadium.
Wenger is aware of the strain Giroud is under at the moment and wants to rectify the problem as soon as possible – with the Gunners medical team initiating new training regimes for the France international to avoid burn out.
If the north London club do want Dzeko they will have to act fast however, as Inter Milan are also said to be interested in the attacker.
