Gunners quoted £16m to take Villa to the Emirates Stadium in January.
Arsenal have been quoted £16million for Barcelona striker David Villa.
Sportsmail revealed manager Arsene Wenger’s interest in the 31-year-old on Saturday.
And Gunners officials have been told it will take €20million to land Spain’s record goalscorer.

David Villa, 31, may not fit in with Arsene Wenger’s policy of buying youth but the Barcelona forward is an exceptional player, who the Gunners boss may be willing to make an exception for.
Villa has been used sparingly at the Nou Camp so far this season, starting just 6 matches in La Liga – but still managing to find the net 5 on five occasions – with new Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova preferring the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Pedro and Cristian Tello as support for the irrepressible Lionel Messi.
The former Valencia striker may not have quite hit the heights he would have liked since his £33m move from the Mestalla but Villa was left sidelined for eight month by a broken leg last season, missing Spain’s triumphant Euro 2012 campaign.
But the classy finisher has still racked up 40 goals in 91 appearances for the Catalan club, with a fiar few of those were coming from the bench.
Arsenal have been reliant on goal-scoring support from midfield this term, with Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla helping weigh in with more than their fair share of goals.
Olivier Giroud has struggled for long periods of the current campaign, registering just four Premier League goals in 17 appearances, hence the need for Wenger to reinforce that area of his Gunners squad.
David Villa is a hugely experienced forward who may well be keen on a new challenge and still has a few seasons in the tank.
