Wenger identifies Belgian as top summer target.
Arsenal are lining-up a £25m summer bid for Everton star Marouane Fellaini, according to CaughtOffside.
The Belgian star has emerged as one of the finest midfield players in the Premier League this season but the deal would smash Arsenal’s existing record transfer fee – the £16m spent on Andrei Arshavin in 2009.
Fellaini angered Everton fans in August by stating his intention to leave Goodison Park and boss David Moyes conceded at the time that he would sell the Belgium international for the ‘right’ price.
Fellaini received a three-match ban earlier this month for several off the ball incidents involving Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross and the former Standard Liege man was publicly admonished by Moyes over his behaviour, which further fuelled exit talk.
The Merseysiders have won both their matches so far during Fellaini’s ban, which has led Moyes to believe the club could cope with losing the big-haired ball-winner for a hefty fee next summer.
Chelsea, Real Madrid and Man United are all interested in Fellaini but it is understood that Wenger has identified the powerful playmaker as his number one summer target.
The Frenchman believes Fellaini can provide much-needed support for his front-line and the player is likely to again push for an Everton exit in the summer if the club fail to secure a top four spot.
