Manchester United ace on the radar of both Chelsea and Arsenal.
With a deal for Luis Suarez proving increasingly difficult, Arsenal are exploring alternative options in their pursuit of a world class striker.
The Gunners have renewed their interest in signing Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, according to the Daily Mirror, and will compete with Chelsea to bring the England international to London.
Rooney is not currently a first choice player at Old Trafford.
Robin Van Persie is expected to lead the line against Swansea City with support from Danny Welbeck and Wilfried Zaha on either side, but Manchester United manager David Moyes is still adamant that the 27 year-old Rooney will not be sold.
However, Chelsea are considered a more direct threat to the Red Devils’ hopes of retaining the Premier League title this afternoon, and perhaps Moyes’ stance might soften in the wake of Arsenal interest.
Certainly Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will hope so, and with the Frenchman even admitting that his side was a “bit light”, he is likely to make increasingly bold moves before the transfer window closes on September 2nd.
Perhaps Rooney will be one of those.
