Gunners and Cottagers remain keen on deal for Serie A star.
Neither Arsenal nor Fulham have bid for Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg according to the player’s agent.
Newcastle vs Arsenal tickets are now available for the match at St James’ Park on 19 May!
The London duo are interested in signing the towering Dutchman, who is out of favour with Roma boss Zdenek Zeman, before the close of the transfer window.
The 30-year-old has fallen behind Uruaguayan stopper Mauro Goicoechea in the pecking order at the Stadio Olimpico and is keen to move to the Premier League this month.
Fulham, who have allowed reserve ‘keeper David Stockdale to join Hull City, are thought to be keen on the Netherlands international but Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri has claimed that Arsenal have already held talks with the former Ajax man’s representatives.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is thought to have lost faith with current number one Wojciech Szczesny and has admitted he is targeting ‘two exceptional players’ this month.
But Stekenlenburg’s agent, Rob Jansen, has insisted that no offers are on the table for his client at present.
Jansen told calciomercato.it: “At the moment there are just rumours and journalistic speculation.
“We have yet to receive a concrete offer, so it is therefore probable that he will stay at Roma in January rather than leave.
“We know what is moving in the goalkeeping market, but nothing has been decided.”
