Wenger admits deal for Suarez is dead.
Arsene Wenger has signalled the end of Arsenal’s pursuit of Luis Suarez after admitting there is “no chance” the Liverpool striker will join the Gunners.
Arsenal have had two bids rejected for the Uruguayan this summer, while both Liverpool chairman John W. Henry and manager Brendan Rodgers have insisted Suarez is not for sale at any price.
Suarez publicly expressed his desire to leave Anfield for a Champions League club earlier this month and reports have suggested the North London outfit, who are yet to spend a penny on transfers this summer, remained hopeful that Suarez would try to force through a move during the final days of the transfer window.
But Wenger has poured cold water on the suggestions that the 26-year-old could still make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking after Arsenal’s 3-0 Champions League play-off first leg win at Fenerbahce, Wenger was asked if the Suarez deal was off: “Yes,” he replied. “Absolutely no chance of that.”
