Fulham have also been linked with a move for the Dutch giant, who does not see eye to eye with Roma boss Zdenek Zeman.
Stekelenburg’s agent, Rob Jansen told Sports Mole: “It’s a serious problem of course between him and the coach.
“We are dealing with the situation with Roma in a very transparent and correct way. He’s not made any final decision about leaving or whether he will stay there.
“We are looking at the market and if we have to act then we know what to do. The Premier League is one of the best competitions in the world so for every player wants to experience that.”
Arsenal are reportedly in the market for a new goalkeeper after boss Arsene Wenger lost faith with current number one Wojciech Szczesny and respected Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri has confirmed on twitter that the Gunners have already held talks with the 30-year-old.
Wenger has money to spend in the transfer market this month but and has indicated he is keen to recruit two ‘exceptional’ players.
Stekelenburg has made just nine Serie A appearances for the San Siro outfit this term, with Uruguayan Mauro Goicoechea often preferred between the sticks.
The Netherlands international joined the Rome side from Ajax in 2011, having made over 200 appearances for the Amsterdam outfit.
