Race is on to bring West Ham United star to Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal must move quickly if they are to sign West Ham United midfielder Mohamed Diame – he is reportedly to be offered a new contract by his club.

Diame famously (or infamously) has a release clause in his current deal that stipulates that he will be allowed to speak to any team that offers above £3.5 million, the Hammers will have to let him talk to them.
However, recently there has been speculation that the release clause is in fact £7 million, which would explain why there hasn’t been a flurry of bids for Diame’s signature.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he is looking to strengthen in midfield, but will only bring someone in who will improve on the team’s current options.
“I give you our midfield: Diaby, Wilshere, Ramsey. International football players. You have Arteta – the calibre of an international footballer,” the Arsenal boss told the Daily Mirror recently.
“You have Walcott, you have Podolski with over 100 international caps. What do you do? You say, just buy one.
“But you have to buy one better than we already have. We have Cazorla… fantastic football players.”
Wenger has previously confirmed that he is a fan of Diame, and he might add some vital steel to the Arsenal midfield – and a physical presence too.
According to data compiled by EA Sports FIFA 13 Ultimate Team, Diame has won 60% of his tackles this season compared to Arsenal midfielders Jack Wilshere (44%) and Mikel Arteta (40%).
Diame makes an interception every 62 minutes 48 seconds, which compares favourably to Arteta’s 83 minutes 24 seconds and Wilshere’s 96 minutes 22 seconds.
Though not always considered a true defensive midfielder, the statistics show that he could help prevent opposition attacks if signed by the Gunners – and potentially do a better job than some of the current Arsenal stars.
