Senegalese striker tops Wenger’s January wish-list.
Arsenal are interested in a January move for Newcastle’s in-form striker Demba Ba, according to Goal.com.
Ba proved to be one of the bargains of last season, bagging 16 goals and forming a lethal partnership with compatriot Papiss Cisse after joining the Toon on a free transfer from West Ham.
The Senegal international has continued where he left off this term and has ten Premier League goals in 16 appearances for Alan Pardew’s struggling side.
The 26-year-old has a well-publicised release-clause of just £7.5m and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger reportedly considers the forward good value for money.
But Arsenal have reservations about Ba’s fitness, with reports suggesting the lethal forward is uninsurable due to state of his knees.
Ba failed a medical at Stoke in January 2011 prior to joining Newcastle but has shown no signs of struggling with rigours of the Premier League whilst at St James’ Park.
Wenger is expecting to welcome Thierry Henry back to the Emirates for a third spell at the club in January but still wants to boost his attacking options, with Theo Walcott’s future looking increasingly uncertain.
Ba’s agent hinted earlier in September that his client wasn’t entirely happy with life in the North East and the former Hoffenheim marksmen is likely to be interested in the chance to return to London with Arsenal.
