Arsenal eye two huge strikers for summer window after failing to reinforce in midseason.
Arsenal are looking at two striker signings for the January transfer window – but neither is Barcelona forward David Villa.
fanatix tickets – Barclays Premier League tickets are still available for next weekend’s games.
Sunderland vs Manchester United tickets are on sale from £27 for the match on March 30th at the Stadium of Light.
According to the Sunday People, the Gunners have moved on from the 31 year-old forward because of his age.
Manager Arsene Wenger has typically had a policy of only offering one year deals to any players over 30 years old, and Villa would likely hope for a three year deal at this stage of his career.
After a process of evaluation, it would appear that Wenger has elected against signing Villa and will instead move for younger targets.
The most strongly linked names have been from Serie A.
Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic and Edinson Cavani of Napoli have both had a huge amount of stories written about them, and though they might seem unlikely, perhaps they are not as outlandish as they first seem.
After all, Arsenal’s recent transfer policy has shifted in recent seasons.
The Gunners have signed established international stars alongside the usual recruitment of promising players, with Spain defender Nacho Monreal joining countryman Santi Cazorla and Germany’s Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski at Emirates Stadium – both of whom have around 100 caps.
It would appear that Arsene Wenger has realised that short term success is close to as important as the club’s long term future.
If Cavani or Jovetic arrive, it would be thanks to that.
