Arsenal are preparing to boost their ranks with recruitment in the January transfer window, with players at Real Madrid and FC Barcelona on their shortlist.
According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners have made an offer for Barca’s 17 year-old striker Tonny Sanabria, and have asked Real Madrid about the possibility of taking Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata on loan.
Sanabria is a talented teenage forward who has already earned three caps at senior international level for Paraguay, but would earn substantially more in north London than he does with Barcelona.
He could follow in the footsteps of Cesc Fabregas and Jon Toral in travelling from Camp Nou to Emirates Stadium, knowing that Arsene Wenger has a great reputation for giving young players their chance in the first team.
Tempting Morata away from Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on a permanent basis would be a far more difficult prospect, with the 19 year-old Spaniard highly rated by the coaching staff at Real Madrid, but a loan move could be beneficial for all parties.
Morata needs first team football to continue his development, while Arsenal need backup to first choice striker Olivier Giroud up front. Real Madrid meanwhile receive the benefits of the the improved player upon his return.
However, the Gunners face competition from arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur for Morata’s signature.
