Arsenal will step up their loan pursuit of ultra-talented young Spanish striker Alvaro Morata, who plies his trade for Real Madrid, reports the Daily Mail.
England international Theo Walcott was stretchered off against Tottenham in the FA Cup at the weekend, and has been ruled for six months with a cruciate ligament injury – meaning the Gunners desperately need to strengthen the forward areas.
Against Spurs, Walcott was already covering for the injured duo of Olivier Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner, and while German international Lukas Podolski can play up top, he’s more comfortable starting from the left.
As a result of the injury crisis, Arsene Wenger is desperate for striking reinforcements, and will step up his pursuit of Morata, Real Madrid’s 21-year-old Spaniard. The forward has only made one start in La Liga this term, but has scored twice after coming off the bench.
He is quick, skilful, and can finish off either foot. Madrid have high hopes for him, and do not want to let him leave permanently. A loan move for six months could be the best option for all three parties though, although with the Spanish giants competing in three competitions, they may want to keep their squad intact.
