Several unnamed Spanish sides are also believed to be interested in Veretout with the France Under-21 international having impressed in recent times for club and country.
The 21-year-old is naturally a defensive midfielder – something the Gunners are desperate to acquire in the New Year – although has shown his box-to-box capabilities in Ligue 1 this season with six goals in 18 matches.
It’s understood that Veretout’s current contract contains a release clause of just £4m and that deal expires in 2017, meaning the starlet could be a relatively cost effective option for Arsene Wenger.
