Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is closing in on Toulouse full back Serge Aurier, according to The Daily Star.
The Ivorian has shown tremendous promise, whilst playing for the Ligue 1 side, and it is believed that it has piqued the interest of the north Londoners – after his six goals and six assists saw him voted into the Ligue 1 team of the year.
Wenger is already bracing himself for the imminent departure of right back Bacary Sagna and it is understood that he views Aurier as the perfect, long-term replacement for the veteran. Additionally, the 21 year old has also recently gone on record, speaking about his interest in moving to the Emirates, which has turned the tables in the English side’s favour. However, Arsenal may still have to shell out nearly £7m for the player presently.
A product of the Lens Youth Academy, Aurier is also a member of the Ivory Coast national football team and is expected to start at this summer’s World Cup.
