Reports on Goal.com explain that Destro, who previously stated that he would review his future next summer, has welcomed speculation linking him with a switch to the Gunners – believing such rumours are evidence of his growing ability.
The 23-year-old, who has seven caps and one goal for Italy, was overlooked for a place in Antonio Conte’s latest Azzurri squad – despite averaging a goal every 127 minutes in Serie A this season.
Arsenal remain keen on adding to their ranks of striking talent, with only summer signing Alexis Sanchez able to better that scoring rate so far this season.
When asked about a potential move to north London, Destro is quoted saying: “Arsenal for me? The rumours are good, I’m happy for them. This is the proof that I’m doing my work well. There are so many things that I can improve on. I must never stop and continue to learn new things.
Despite being linked with an exit from Roma, the player insisted that there is plenty he can still learn from boss Rudi Garcia: “The coach encourages me a lot, he is teaching me some things, and I try to show my skills on the pitch, as well as the confidence he has in me.”
Destro has scored 22 goals in 49 Serie A appearances since joining Roma but has struggled for game time this term and was urged to improve his character by Garcia earlier this season – a comment which caused the Italian forward to question his position at the club.
