Mesut Ozil’s £42m arrival will reinvigorate the Arsenal squad, claims current star…
Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny thinks Mesut Ozil will be a fantastic addition to the Gunners squad, reports Goal.
A spectacular £40m deal is all but confirmed, and the 24-year-old German playmaker will leave Real Madrid to become the highest paid player at the Emirates.
Following Real Madrid’s world-record deal for Welsh winger Gareth Bale, Ozil felt his place at the Bernabeu was in jeopardy, and Arsenal fought off competition from Manchester United and PSG for his signature.
Koscielny thinks the deal represents a fantastic piece of business for his side, and he is relishing the prospect of playing alongside the talented playmaker.
“We talk about Mesut Ozil, we’ll see, this is a world-class player, a technical player who can adapt to Arsenal,” said the impressive stopper, who was sent off on the opening day Premier League defeat to Aston Villa.
Koscielny reckons the deal is a timely reminder to supporters that manager Arsene Wenger is the right man for the job. many fans have slated the Frenchman for his lack of activity in the window, but a deal for Ozil will represent the largest ever transfer into the Premier League from abroad.
“The coach has been criticised by fans. We know that the club has money for transfers but then there’s the desire of players to come to Arsenal or not.
