Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that forgottten striker Marouane Chamakh will be allowed to leave the club if he wishes.
The Gunners boss confirmed in his press conference before the UEFA Champions League tie against Montpellier this evening that given that he could not guarantee Chamakh first team football, he could move on if he chooses.
“I cannot stand in his way,” confirmed Wenger.
That of course would depend on an acceptable transfer offer coming in, and the bidding club being able to pay Chamakh’s wages – reported to be £50,000 per week.
Norwich City, Reading and Southampton are the strongest linked sides in the Premier League, whilst the Moroccan also reportedly has the option of returning to Bordeaux.
With Thierry Henry set to move to the Gunners in January, Chamakh has little chance of first team football at Emirates Stadium.
