The talented young French international is now regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in the world, having shone at Juve since leaving Old Trafford as a teenager.
Now valued at around £60m, Pogba has been linked several times with a return to the Premier League with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City, but Wenger saw his potential a few years ago.
“We were interested by Pogba when he was at Manchester [United]” the Gunners boss explained.
“We tried to get him, but it was complicated. I was surprised to see Manchester let him go. We did not have the right to contact him.”
