Wenger tried to bring Frenchman to the Emirates.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed he has tried to sign Juventus star Paul Pogba in the past, while he was still at Manchester United, according to the Daily Mirror.
The talented young French international is now regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in the world, having shone at Juve since leaving Old Trafford as a teenager.
Now valued at around £60m, Pogba has been linked several times with a return to the Premier League with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City, but Wenger saw his potential a few years ago.
“We were interested by Pogba when he was at Manchester [United]” the Gunners boss explained.
“We tried to get him, but it was complicated. I was surprised to see Manchester let him go. We did not have the right to contact him.”
