Midfielder free to join new club for the right price.
Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti has revealed they will not oppose the departure of midfielderYann M’Vila, provided his suitors were to make the right offer.
The France international remains one of the most sought-after targets in the transfer market despite failing to secure a move to the Premier League last summer, with Arsenal and Tottenham reportedly keen to renew their interest in the New Year.
Following M’Vila’s recent comments that he would welcome a move, Antonetti has conceded he would be powerless to retain the 22-year-old’s services against his will.
“I want to keep him, but if Rennes were to receive a suitable bid then he would leave,” he lamented to RMC Sport. “He is better and more mature, and will go.
“It is part of the club’s policy that he will leave if he has to, only, who will replace him?”
The defensive midfielder has made 14 appearances in Ligue 1 so far, helping the team to fourth place.
Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila was heavily linked with a move to both Arsenal and Tottenham during the summer but, despite continued speculation, it seems unlikely either side will renew their interest this month.
M’Vila has endured a torrid six months in Ligue 1, losing his place in the Rennes first-team before being banned from International football until June 2014, after breaking curfew whilst on duty for the under-21s.
The mere fact that the enforcer was part of the French youth set-up is testament to how badly his form has plummeted since July, given that he was a key part of France’s Euro 2012 squad.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the 22-year-old and was close to signing M’Vila in June. But Wenger reportedly pulled the plug on a deal after M’Vila clashed with his Les Blues teammates at Euro 2012.
With Abou Diaby still not fit and Arsenal reliant on the normally creative Mikel Arteta in a defensive midfield role, Wenger is in need of a defensive midfielder this month but the Gunners boss is a stubborn man and it would take a great deal for him to go back on his initial decision about M’Vila.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have also been credited with an interest in M’Vila but, with Sandro performing admirably and Scott Parker now fit, it’s hard to see the White Hart Lane outfit challenging their neighbours for the Frenchman’s signature.
