The Real Madrid captain could be about to make a shock exit.
Paris Saint-Germain have become the latest club to be linked with Real Madrid superstar Iker Casillas, with Arsenal and Manchester City also keeping tabs, reports sport24.com.
The Premier League duo battle it out for Casillas.
The Spaniard is out-of-favour with new Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti and like Jose Mourinho before him, the Italian has preferred to play Diego Lopez this season.
The Gunners have been in the hunt for a new stopper for some time, having failed to find a decent replacement for Jens Lehmann – who retired in 2011.
City meanwhile are looking into the possibility of finding competition for Joe Hart, with the England No.1 having a somewhat calamitous start to the new campaign.
Casillas played under new Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini for a year in 2009/10 when the Chilean was in charge of Madrid and that may sway the 32-year-old towards Eastlands.
However, with big spenders PSG now in the race it could prove to be a difficult decision for Casillas if the ‘keeper decides to leave the Spain skipper’s boyhood club.
The decision from Ancelotti not to play the captain is bewildering to much of the football world, after Lopez was given the chance last year when the No.1 was injured.
Yet with a roll of honours that could rival any of history’s greatest players and a record 149 caps for the Spain national team, Casillas is something of a modern day legend.
To date Los Blancos star has won five La Liga titles, two Champions League titles and also the World Cup and successive European Championships.
