The most prolific in front of goal so far this term.
Although the Premier League has been noticeable for its lack of goals so far this season, a few players have broken through to notch up a healthy total.
Christian Benteke – Aston Villa, four goals
The Belgian has continued the good form the striker had in last term and has netted four of Villa’s five goals in the league.
A brace at the Emirates Stadium on the first day of the season helped sink Arsenal, whilst 2-1 defeats to both Chelsea and Newcastle United have been marked by Benteke strikes.
Olivier Giroud – Arsenal, four goals
The forward is beginning to repay the faith that Arsene Wenger showed in the Frenchman and has displayed remarkable consistency by scoring in every match so far.
Giroud profited from Mesut Ozil’s supreme creativity against Sunderland, whilst goals from the 26-year-old have also helped sink Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.
Daniel Sturridge – Liverpool, three goals
Like Giroud the England striker has netted in every league match for the Reds so far, with the club having played one less than the rest of the division.
Three 1-0 victories for the Merseyside outfit to date have been highlighted with a Sturridge goal and the 23-year-old looks in great form.
Robin Van Persie – Manchester United, three goals
It looked like more of the same when Van Persie netted twice against Swansea City on the first day of the new league season, but the forward seemed to lose the way somewhat after that.
However, a successfully converted penalty against Crystal Palace on Saturday has helped boost the Dutchman’s tally.
