Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson says his defenders will share the workload in manning Sydney Swans star Lance Franklin.
In the two clashes between the sides, Josh Gibson has been Franklin’s direct opponent, however the Hawks coach says both he and Brian Lake will share responsibilities on the former Hawk at different stages of the game in an effort to nullify the Swans’ talented forward line.
“It sort of moves around a fair bit, they’ve got four big guys down there,” Clarkson told Channel Nine.
“It’s not just going to be one of our defenders on one of their forwards throughout the day, they’ll have to swap and mix and match a fair bit.”
Clarkson said the battle between Gibson and Franklin, two good friends, would be one to watch.
“They’ve had some beauties those two,” he said.
“They’re great mates…great competitors.
“They used to go toe-to-toe a fair few times at training.”
