Carlton have signed Greater Western Sydney duo Kristian Jaksch and Mark Whiley after finalising a trade with the Giants on Wednesday.
The Blues traded pick no.7 in exchange for Jaksch, Whiley and pick no.19.
Carlton football operations manager Andrew McKay said the deal had been at the centre of the Blues’ trade negotiations.
“It’s exciting to be able to bring both players to Carlton, while still retaining a first round draft pick,” McKay said.
“Securing Kristian was certainly a priority for us this trade period and we’re rapt to have got the deal done.
“We see him as a player who is going to give us another tall marking option, as well as flexibility, given he can play forward and back.
“While he is still developing, we believe he will be a 10-year player for our football club.
“Mark is tough inside midfielder who is terrific around the stoppages. He will give us more ball getting capability in the midfield.
“This deal is in line with our strategy of injecting youth and lowering the overall age profile of our list, and we’re looking forward to seeing both players don the navy blue guernsey in 2015.”
