Former Chelsea playmaker Kevin de Bruyne has hinted that he is keen on a move back to the Premier League with Manchester City.
The Belgian international has been a long-term target for City, and Daily Express on Monday reported the cashed-up English giants are preparing a £40m bid for the 24-year-old.
De Bruyne left Chelsea for Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in an £18m move in 2014 and has starred in the German top flight, however he admits interest from the likes of City is “something special”.
“I don’t know where I will play next season,” De Bruyne is quoted as saying by Daily Star.
“I just have to train well and make sure that I am fully fit. We will then see what happens.
“It is always something special when big clubs show an interest in you. Of course, I am thinking about it.”
De Bruyne created a Bundesliga record-equalling 20 assists last season for Wolfsburg and scored 13 goals as he helped his side qualify for the Champions League.
However, Jose Mourinho last week questioned De Bruyne’s mentality, saying the former Genk man couldn’t handle the pressure of fighting for his position during is stint at Stamford Bridge.
