Wenger wants German at Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have again been linked with a transfer move for Borussia Dortmund ace Mario Goetze after a release clause in the Germany international’s deal was revealed.
Germany’s midfield star Mario Goetze can leave Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund as early as January 1st for 37 million euros (£29.8m), according to a report in national sport newspaper Bild.
The news will alert Arsenal, who have been linked with a bid for a player deemed one of the best in the world in his age range for the last few years.
20-year-old Goetze extended his Dortmund contract in March which sees him tied to Borussia until 2016, with a transfer clause in his deal allowing him to leave in 2013 for a minimum of 37 million euros, claims Bild.
He can also leave at a later date before his deal expires with a sliding scale of cost.
Goetze has attracted plenty of attention after Dortmund’s impressive performances in the Champions League with the German champions top of Group D ahead of Real Madrid, Ajax and Manchester City.
Although Gotze’s agent Volker Struth says his client has no plans to leave Dortmund in 2013, everyone knows football changes by the day.
Arsene Wenger is a confirmed admirer.
“Goetze is a very good player. I can understand there is a lot of interest in him around Europe,” said Wenger before last season’s clash against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.
Perhaps Goetze will finally make the Emirates Stadium move predicted of him for the last two years.
