A youth theatre group is to star in the West End production of musical Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace Theatre.
The Act 1 Theatre Group, based in Ton Pentre, Rhondda, are the first group from Wales to win a national competition that gives young performers the opportunity to perform in scenes of the musical. Approximately twenty of the fifty members of the group are set to travel to London in July. However, they are currently trying to find ways to fund the trip, expected to cost £3000, and so are holding a fundraising evening on June 24th at the Phoenix Theatre where they are based.
18-year-old cast member Elliot Howells, cast as Mr Braithwaite, said, "it means a huge amount for us to get through and to be the first Welsh group to win in the history of the competition."
Billy Elliot - The Musical tickets for the hit West End show are available now.
