Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker has cited music as the inspiration behind getting through his recent spell in hospital. The musician was involved in a plane crash in 2008 which claimed the lives of four passengers. The Blink 182 star spoke to Kerrang! about the ordeal.
I was so thankful to be alive, he said. My left hand was completely numb and there was a time when [the doctors] were even talking about amputating my foot. All I wanted to do was play the drums and get the hell out of hospital.
The drummer credits his solo album as paving his road to recovery.
Id already recorded two tracks [for the album] before the crash, so once my hands healed and I could grip stuff, I just had to finish it, he explained. For a long time I didnt want to leave [my home] but [the album] got me out of my pad and into the studio.
Blink 182 tickets are on sale now for the band's upcoming UK tour, set to begin on the 1st July at Birmingham NIA.
