Thomas Vermaelen declares himself fit for league run-in

Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen has said he has recovered from an Achilles tendon injury and is ready to return to action.

The centre-back has been out for seven months but is ready to help out with his club's final few games.

However, Vermaelen has been left out of the team for Saturday's game against Manchester United.

"Physically I feel good," the Belgian defender told Arsenal's website.

"It's up to the boss. I hope I'll be back in the squad soon."
