The England international was the subject of a £3 million offer for his services from the West London giants, a bid that the financially-stricken Championship outfit were keen to accept given their present worries off the pitch.
However, the young shot-stopper, who was due for talks at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, has subsequently decided to remain at St Andrews for the rest of this campaign, concerned that had he opted to join the Blues during the January transfer window, then he would only be warming the substitutes bench for the remainder of the season due to the imposing presence of Czech Republic international No 1 Petr Cech as the club’s automatic first choice.
