The Spanish midfielder has agreed to a two year extension to his current deal which will see the player remain at the Nou Camp until at least June 2016.
It is the second senior player Barcelona have secured in as many weeks after they announced that club captain Carles Puyol has committed to a similar length of time last week.
Xavi turned 33 last week but is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world. He has played for the Spanish side all the way through their youth ranks and has been an integral part of the team for a number of years.
Both club and player have enjoyed considerable success during Xavi’s time at the club, securing six La Liga titles, three Champions League trophies, two Club World Championships and two Cope del Reys.
