Cavani could be the latest high profile star to sign at Old Trafford.
Paris Saint-Germain’s club record signing Edinson Cavani wants a transfer to Manchester United after falling out with manager Laurent Blanc, reports the Metro.
This is despite the fact that both Chelsea and Manchester City are also keen on signing the striker, as Cavani has been wooed by the Red Devils’ prolonged interest.
The Uruguayan would therefore snub Champions League football for next season in favour of a place at Old Trafford, as the 27-year-old tries to engineer a move to the Premier League.
It’s thought Cavani would cost upwards of £60m as PSG only signed the forward from Napoli for a whopping £52.7m last summer and therefore are in a good position to negotiate.
One of the more frustrating things for the South American since arriving at the Parc des Princes has been having to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the attacker has often been pushed out to the right wing in order to accommodate the Sweden international.
The fallout with Blanc is the now the final straw for Cavani and he will look to leave Ligue 1 for England in the close season.
Despite the fact that the Uruguay international is unhappy in France, this hasn’t affected his performances and the PSG star has 25 goals for the club in 42 appearances in all competitions to date.
However, with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie already at the Theatre of Dreams the question is whether United need another world-class striker and if they were to sign Cavani one of those current stars would probably have to be sold.
