The hosts took the lead when a long pass was punted to Carroll, who nodded the ball down to his former Newcastle team-mate Nolan, who controlled the ball before lashing it into the corner on the half volley.
Nolan soon doubled his tally thanks to another assist from Carroll, who arcing run to the back post allowed him to head Stewart Downing’s corner back across goal, and Nolan supplied the finishing touch.
The Hammers were coasting, but the second half was made somewhat more difficult when Andy Carroll was sent off after flailing an arm in the direction of Chico Flores, with clear contact between the home team’s striker and the Swansea defender’s head.
Still, as much as Swansea huffed and puffed, they could not break down a stoic West Ham defence.
