Toon boss admits need for new forward, with Remy on the agenda.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will step up his attempts to sign Marseille’s Loic Remy this week after admitting he desperately needs a new striker at St James’ Park.

The Toon sold star forward Demba Ba to Chelsea last week and Pardew watched on as his side created little in Saturday’s dismal 0-0 draw at Norwich.
The stalemate meant the Magpies have won just two of their last 17 games and Pardew is desperate to land Remy before the end of the month.
“It is pretty obvious that we need another striker,” lamented the former Southampton boss.
“We didn’t really have the chance to mix it up or an option so we had to stick to the game plan that we had at the start of the game.
“They [Norwich] could bring on Grant Holt to change the game plan a bit but we don’t have that luxury. So we need to recruit in the next couple of weeks.”
QPR manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that Remy rejected the chance to discuss terms over a move to the struggling West London side but Pardew is confident that the plethora of Gallic talent already at the North East club will persuade the 25-year-old to join the Toon.
France international Remy has found himself frozen out at L’Om this season by new boss Eli Baup, despite finishing the previous two campaigns as the club’s top scorer.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been linked with the powerful forward, who can play on the wing or as a central striker.
However, it is understood that Newcastle lead the chase for Remy and Pardew is ready to make a concrete move before the end of next week.
