England stars Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes will be the main attraction today as they go head-to-head, with Warwickshire and Durham competing for the inaugural Royal London One-Day Cup.
The international teammates will be looking to complete an excellent season, in which they were both awarded central contracts with their country.
The Bears beat Kent Spitfires by six wickets to book their place in the final, emerging victorious without 25-year-old Woakes, who is desperate to clinch a second piece of silverware this season, with his county having already won the Twenty 20 Cup.
In the other semi-final, the Jets comfortable defeated the Nottingham Outlaws thanks to an incredible inning of 164 from 113 balls by Stokes, who will also have his eyes on lifting a trophy come the close of play.
Speaking ahead of the game Woakes emphasized the competition between the pair, saying: “Stokesy is a very good player and can affect the game with all three aspects – bat, ball and in the field – so we will have to try to keep him as quiet as possible,” said Woakes.
“Of course Durham have lots of other players to be worried about as well but there is no doubt he is a big threat so hopefully I can ‘out-pip’ him with my performance on the day.”
