Reds manager more than happy with England international’s contributions so far
Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers has praised new signing Daniel Sturridge as the Reds prepare for their FA Cup fourth-round trip to Oldham Athletic.
“This is a club that has got a real, proud tradition in this competition (the FA Cup) and we want to go as far as we possibly can in it,” Rodgers said.
“But without taking away, obviously, we have got two very important league games. So, it is a chance for me to look at the squad and, as I said, it is games like this really, where the squad come to the fore. I have got great trust in the players.

“They have been absolutely brilliant in my time here. So, I know whichever teams I put out on Sunday, Wednesday and the following week, they will be strong teams able to get a result.”
“Daniel coming in has given them (the squad) a boost. They are good players, they want to play with other good players and we have bought in an exceptional player who, as I said, I will repeat, I think he will prove to be a real bargain here, for the next few years.
“He is still very young – he is only 23 years of age. And he has got so much more to come. So I think that he has given them a lift. And if we can bring in one or two more, then that will help the group through to the end of the season and give us a chance to challenge.”
