Melo’s footwear proved to be a particularly popular topic…
New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony paid a special visit to the Real Madrid camp on Wednesday, meeting and greeting the players and ‘showing off’ some of his football skills.
The 30-year-old re-signed with the Knicks last week to end speculation over his future, but he took time during the off-season to visit the Madrid players and checked in with the likes of Gareth Bale and Xabi Alonso.
The Welshman later took to Twitter to thank Anthony for dropping by and wished the All-Star the best of luck in the season ahead.
Although the meeting did appear to be quite awkward at times, Alvaro Arbeloa was able to ask Melo a legitimate question when quizzing him on whether or not he was looking forward to playing alongside point guard Jose Calderon next season.
Nevertheless, it was great to see stars from different sports interacting and while Melo did stop for photographs with the team, it was his choice of footwear which had people talking, opting to walk in to training wearing what appeared to be a pair of slippers…
