Butler seals win for Bulls while Thunder win despite their injury woes…
The Golden State Warriors saw the ‘Splash Bros’ go to work on Saturday night, with Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry securing a win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Thompson scored 41 points and dished out five assists in the win, while Curry added 31 points and had 10 assists as the pair were able to outduel Kobe Bryant.
Bryant ended the game with 28 points, but it wasn’t near enough to help the Lakers avoid a fourth consecutive defeat to start the season.
Jordan Hill had 23 points, five rebounds, four assists and three blocks in an assured performance as there are certain positive aspects of Byron Scott’s struggle thus far.
Elsewhere, the Utah Jazz upset the Phoenix Suns with Derrick Favors finishing with a game-high 32 points, while the Oklahoma City Thunder managed to put their injury woes behind them and defeat the Denver Nuggets.
It was the first win of the season for Scott Brooks’ men, with Perry Jones once again starring in the absence of the likes of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Reggie Jackson.
Staying in the Western Conference, there were wins for the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies, with Chandler Parsons, Marc Gasol and James Harden all playing key roles in their team’s victories.
Over in the East, the Chicago Bulls left it late to see off the Minnesota Timberwolves with Jimmy Butler sinking two free-throws with less than a second remaining to end the game with 24 points on his return from injury.
There were also wins for the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and Atlanta Hawks, while Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade continued to impress in the post LeBron James era with Bosh scoring 30 points while Wade had 10 assists in the win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
