George and West play key roles in comprehensive win.
The Indiana Pacers remain the only unbeaten team in the NBA after their fifth consecutive win which came against rivals the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night.
Behind 17 points and 13 rebounds from power forward David West, as well as 21 points from Paul George, the Pacers bounced back from letting a significant lead slip ahead of half-time with a dominate show in the fourth quarter.
Frank Vogel’s men outscored their opponents 34-18 in the final 12 minutes, but while Derrick Rose had a joint team-high of 17 points, he was 6-of-15 from the field as his shooting problems go on.
The defeat leaves the Bulls at 1-3 for the season so far, but with an arguably easier schedule ahead they will look to turn their early slump around and hope that their performances improve.
Elsewhere in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics picked up their first win of the season with a 97-87 win over the Utah Jazz, while the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers respectively.
Meanwhile, over in the Western Conference, Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson put on a real show as he went 6-of-9 from beyond the arc as his game-high 30 points led his team to a 106-93 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
David Lee, Andre Iguodala and Harrison Barnes all made significant contributions for Mark Jackson’s side, who look like an impressive outfit in the early stages of the season.
However, things didn’t go to plan for the Los Angeles Clippers who slipped to a 98-90 defeat to the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center.
Despite another double-double from point guard Chris Paul who had 18 points and 10 assists, he was outshone by Nikola Vucevic who is having an impressive season so far, with the center scoring 30 points and grabbing 21 rebounds.
The Magic had good production across the entire roster and now move to 3-0 at home this season, while they are 3-2 overall after being tipped to struggle.
Elsewhere, there were wins for Western Conference favourites San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder, with stand-out performances from Danny Green (3-of-6 from three-point range) with 19 points, and Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook who had 23 and 22 points respectively.
